Annual Fall Leesburg Outing

Early, Sunday morning we piled the kids in the car for our annual fall trip to Leesburg, Virginia to see Uncle Dave and Auntie Sus.  Perfect weather and near peak foliage were forecasted to help make the trip extra enjoyable.
First stop: Lunch at Doner
Waiting for our yummy food
We missed Oktoberfest....
Mommy & Maria
Lucas waiting in the wagon for his ride back
After lunch, a mini concert by Uncle Dave
Lucas was mesmorized

We proceeded to get in the cars. These are the days I wish we had a mini van, so we all could have gone in one car, instead of having to take two.  But I digress......

We made our way to Great Country Farms in Bluemont, Virginia.
Our preferred mode of transportation- wagon

Sassy diva in the wagon
Sporting her shades, eating her snacks
Bouncing time!
Maria was not interested, this was about as close as she got to the edge.
The bouncing cow was more her speed
YAY!
Staring down the goose
"Hi Goose"
Saying hello to the peacock

Auntie Sus takes over pulling the wagon

Onto the slides!

Maria tries to escape

Uncle Dave & Lucas race
Hooray!
Back in the wagon to head to the Pig Races
Mommy & her sweet girl

Sweet girl, playing in the dirt....
Waiting for Pig Races to start

What a beautiful day!
"Here piggy, piggy"

After the Pig Races, Lucas decided he wanted to play on the mini golf course
"What are we supposed to do?"
Just what little sisters are for,
blocking the hole by sitting on it while your big brother is trying to putt
Good form

We moved onto the playground when we finished with golfing.

The new family ride
A smaller slide

Swinging

Taking a break
Driving the mower
No texting and driving!

Everyone was starting to lose steam, so we started to head to the car.
Not before getting some snacks, including kettle corn, apple cider slushie and pumpkin pie ice cream!  Lucas enjoyed his ice cream cone- every last lick!

Mommy & Lucas pose for the camera
I love this boy!!

Ria's turn to pose with Mommy.
I adore her!

Even though Great Country Farms has a pumpkin patch,
we usually don't go through the trouble of riding the tractor to go to the field to pick out pumpkins.
Instead, we head a little ways up the road and stop to get pumpkins at another spot.
Lucas fell asleep on the way there, so he wasn't much help picking out pumpkins this year.
Maria, on the other hand, went through a greuling process to try to pick her pumpkin.

Is it too heavy?
Is it huggable?
Is it the right color orange?

Finally, she made her decision!

Saying "Hi" to the owl
"Mom, I know I'm still tiny, but this chair seems HUGE."

Big Chair!
I even had trouble get into and out of the chair.
"Hello Chief"
Pumpkins purchased and we are on our way back to Leesburg.

The kids say, "We go faster than you Uncle Dave!".

Upon arriving back to the home base, we proceeded to pick out our Fireworks pizza choices.
The boys walked to go pick it up and enjoyed some beverages while they were waiting.

Back from getting the pizza. Let's eat!
His shirt says, "Will Trade Sister for Candy".
I don't doubt that it is true some days.
Pizza- so tasty, so good!
No talking, just eating.

Dave & Sus were nice enough to pick out these marshmellow monster treats for the kids.
Can you say pure sugar?!?!

Mmmmm....sugar!
Sugar monster!
Sitting still, but not for long, once the sugar hits the blood stream.

Enjoyiing the end of the visit, hanging out on the couch with Daddy & Uncle Dave

Sitting
Leaning
Back
Forward
Too far forward, head first into the coffee table

A little ice for her boo-boo.

After the sugar wore off a bit, it was time to make the trek home.

Such a wonderful, fun-filled, can't eat enough good food to eat, spending great times with family, kind of day!!!
Can't wait to do it again next year!
