Rochester and the Strong Museum of Play

My "little brother", Kevin, was getting married up in Rochester over this Memorial Day weekend. I say little brother, because Kevin lived down the hall from Becky and I at Towson all 4 years of school. He met and fell in love with Lisa, and the rest is history. Lisa is super fantastic and comes from the Rochester area (Hooray, upstate NY!). So we took the trek up to NY for the wedding. It was a long ride in the car. Lucas did fairly well, but could only tolerate being in his carseat for so long before getting fussy. He wasn't too sure about sleeping in his pack and play at the hotel the first night. He ended up sleeping in the bed with us, just so we could all get some much needed rest after a long trip.

Saturday morning we woke up, met up with Jon, Becky & Zach for breakfast. Our plan was to get the boys out of the hotel in the morning. Lisa's sister had suggested checking out the Strong Museum of Play, a place full of fun stuff for all ages and totally hands on.

Onto the museum.

First thing as you walk in, there is a huge tropical fish tank.
They had "Nemo" and "Dory" fish!

Lucas fell asleep in the car on the way to the museum.
So he wasn't checking out much of anything initially.

This a picture from the human kaleidoscope.
It was cool to walk through.
Lucas liked playing with the lights that were shining on the wall at the end of the tunnel.

Vroom. Vroom. "Look Dad, I'm a race car driver!"

Uh-oh Luke, don't get eaten by that fishy chair!

They had a whole area devoted to Seasame Street.
Here's Luke & Ryan with Big Bird.

A really cool part of the Seasame Street stuff included a green screen where you could sing along with a muppet. Here's Zach singing the ABCs with Elmo.

We all know how much I love Wegmans.
The musuem had a mini Wegmans set up for kids to do their own grocery shopping.
Just get your cart and go.

Here's Zach picking out his groceries.
Here's Luke pushing the cart while Mommy checks him out at the mini register.

Next it was on to the train ride.
The boys really liked this, but I also think this is my favorite part of the day.
It was a little train that went around in circles (about 3 times) on a small track.
Fun ride!

"You brush your teeth, ch, ch, ch ch"

Zach found his favorite spot- the play kitchen.
It took some convincing to get him to leave so we could get some real food.

On our way out we let Lucas stop by and see the fish, since he missed them at the beginning.

What a great way to spend our morning!
We had so much fun! Plus there was so much other stuff to do that we didn't get to that morning.
On the way back to the hotel, Lucas fell asleep and stayed asleep until we put him in the car to head to the church for the wedding. It was perfect timing!

I love the pic of Lucas driving Patricia to the crazy house in a car with flames painted on it.
