Today was a beautiful summer day. This evening Ryan had to work the DC United game.
I knew it was too nice to stay inside. On the way home from shopping the other day, I passed a carnival that was happening in Annapolis. Uncle Billy said he was game for an adventure.
After dinner, we packed up the kids and headed to the carnival.
In lieu of buying individual tickets for each ride, I decided it would be a "bargain" to get Lucas the wristband that would allow him to go on an unlimited amount of rides for the evening.
This was the first ride he saw and seemed to be interested in it.
It was right next to the ticket booth, so that might have had something to do with it.
Or not.
Clearly the look of terror at the end indicates he did not now what he was getting himself into.
Don't be fooled, this picture was taken before the ride started.
With this and the subsequent train ride attempt,
it took so long for the attendants to get all the kids on & buckled in, that he had lost interest and wanted off before the ride even started. Ugh!
Then we moved onto the carousel.I figured this was pretty safe.
I could ride with him. He had rode one before without any problem.
Riding the horse-before we started moving.

After we started moving, he wanted nothing to do with sitting on the horse.
Are you serious?!?
I just spent all that money and you don't want to ride ANY of these rides....
Billy and I were starting to get worried that we were feeling a little to ambitious about Lucas wanting to go on the rides.
When we had first entered the carnival, there was a BIG slide.
We decided to make our way back over to it and see what would happen.
Riding the big slide with Momma
Loved it!
Hooray! Finally something he would ride!
We were going to ride that slide all night if we had to in order to get my money's worth.
Lovin' the big slide. He even climbed up the stairs by himself.
It was just easier that way.
They were so narrow it was hard to carry the sacks & him together.
Hanging out with the kids at the carnival
Fire Trucks
First Ride by himself that he actually stayed on!

After going down the side a half dozen times, we decided to give some of the other rides another try. We picked the fire engines. The ride started moving shortly after we got on, so he actually stayed on the ride! He had this look of focus/concentration on his face, almost terror or possible motion sickness. So we were both kind of shocked when he requested "more" when we went to go get him off. Hooray! Despite his facial expression, he actually liked the ride!
Here are his subsequent rides that he enjoyed.
Don't watch this video if things that go in a circle make you quesy (that means you Dad!).
First Ride by himself that he actually stayed on!
Billy sat Lucas with a really cute blonde girl
