Once everyone left last night, Ryan quickly passed out on the couch/make-shift bed in the room.
He slept so soundly that he didn't even realize that our day shift nurse, Kris (who I went to our high school and was in marching band with me), had left and come back. When she came in this morning to check on us, he said, "You're still here!".
That was some much needed sleep that he got.
Our night shift nurse, Jenny, was fabulous too.
Maria was very cooperative and slept for a long stretch so I could get some sleep as well.
After Ryan got up and made sure we were all settled, he went back home to meet the plumber to see what we could do about getting the pipe fixed. It would be nice to come home to running water! Meanwhile, Maria was Miss Popularity. She had a visit from the on call pediatrician, a hospital photographer and the hearing screener.
She passed her hearing test!
We also had a visit from a local member of St. Mary's Catholic Church (where Katie & John got married), who said a blessing over us and gave me communion.
This is "Aunt" Mindi posing with Maria.
My friend, Alison, also was able to come & see us.
Ryan made it back in the afternoon with good news that everything was fixed
& we had running water again!!
Later, Mom & Katie came.
They reported that Lucas did well with his sleepover at Grammy's house.
Ryan's parents picked Lucas up from daycare and brought him to the hospital to visit.
while Grammy holds Maria.
It reminds me of the song from "Annie"
"We've never had a little girl!"
I really wanted pizza, so we ordered Bertucci's.
Mom & Katie went to go pick it up.
They also came back with cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory- YUM!
Although we probably could have checked out that evening, we wanted to give ourselves enough time to rest before going home (and make sure we had running water!).
Another busy day....we'll be headed home tomorrow.
