First Haircut

Today we took a special trip to Annapolis in order for Lucas to get his first, yes, I said, FIRST haircut.
Yes.  He is 2 years 5 months old and just getting his first haircut.
Even at that, he could have probably made it another month.
The sides were starting to curl up and made him look unkempt.
So we ventured up to a salon that is specifically made for kids.

We tried to time things the best we could.  Unfortunately the salon didn't open until noon and with daylight savings time, Lucas was more than ready for his nap by the time we left at 11.
We let the kids sleep as long as we could, grabbed some lunch and headed over to see what this haircut business was all about.  Unfortunately, there was more than an hour wait.  No big deal.  We put his name down, left to do some quick Christmas shopping at Barnes & Noble, then returned in hopes of being closer to haircut time.

Well....not so much.  The receptionist explained that one of the stylist had gone into labor and another one of the stylist was bringing her to the hospital.   So they were down to 2 stylists on a very busy Sunday.  She said it would probably be another 45 minutes, depending on when the other stylist got back from dropping the pregnant stylist off at the hospital.  We had already gotten the kids out of the car and made the trip, plus she offered to give us half off the haircut for having to wait such a long time, so we stayed.

They had a wonderful train set that occupied Lucas' attention
He loved playing with the trains so much, that when it was finally his turn to get his haircut, he was upset about having to leave the trains.

Heather, his stylist, explains to him about the smock

Lollipops help calm them down, right?
Check out the nice flip up on the side there- Clip, clip, that will be gone soon.

They even have videos on to capture the kids attention & keep them still

Our Commemorative Book
It included a picture of Lucas with the finished haircut & locks of his red hair that had just gotten snipped off.
He looked so handsome.  Just one more thing that reminded us of how grown-up our little boy is getting.

Lucas did a great job.  When he was finished, he even got to pick a little prize out of the treasure chest.
I don't think we'll be going back here every time Lucas needs haircut, mostly because it's a little on the pricey side.  But I do know where I can go now to find all sorts of hair bows for Maria. (Uh-oh!).
