At the beginning of the month, we took Lucas to the eye doctor to check out his clogged tear ducts. When the doctor dilated his eyes, he said it looked like Lucas' optic nerve pressure was elevated. There are a lot of different reasons why it could be that way. But basically, because it could possibly be some type of tumor, we were ordered to get an MRI within the next two weeks. Lucas did great for the whole procedure. I was really scared of him getting extra cranky because he couldn't eat or drink anything most of the day due to him getting anthesia.
He was in a surprisingly calm mood beforehand. It was afterwards we ran into trouble.
When he woke up, they thought he was just cranky from the anthesia. We tried everything to calm him down, gave him juice, but he was not a happy boy. They told us we shouldn't give his anything solid to eat until after we got home. At one point, as we were trying to pack up to get ready and still trying to console a very cranky, wailing boy, one of the nurses came by and asked if we had fed him. She said it would be okay to give him graham crackers. Once we fed him, he was a much happier boy. His mood totally changed. Poor thing was just hungry.
By the time we got home from the hospital, there was already a message on the answering machine from the doctor saying that everything on the MRI looked fine. What a relief! He said he would just take a closer look when Lucas goes in September for his tear duct surgery.
