We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo! How about you, you, you?

Ryan did a great job planning a continuation of our anniversary celebration.
This time we included Lucas and spent a nice Sunday afternoon together as a family.
First on the agenda, our "D" theme continues.
Lunch at the Daily Grille in Dupont Circle.
Here's Ryan & Lucas outside the restaurant.
We had a really tasty lunch and Lucas was on his best behavior.
After lunch, it was off to the National Zoo.
This was Lucas' first trip to the zoo.
We were excited to take him to see the animals.
We started off pretty tame, with the cow in the barnyard section.
He was intrigued.

Lucas & Dad- I like this picture because it looks like he is trying to pet the prairie dog.

Our favorite part of the day was seeing the tiger.
Tigers are one of my favorite animals and this tiger really put on a good show.
I'll see what I can do about posting the videos we got.
They are pretty funny- Luke sounds like he's calling to the tiger.
Check out those eyes!

"Hello Tiger!"

Watching the tiger with Mommy

The tiger is taking a break- yawn!

Lucas loved watching the tiger through the glass.

So, it was a REALLY hot day out.
Fortunately for us, there is a lot of shade &
these spray fountains throughout the zoo.
This was definitely Lucas favorite non-animal part of the zoo.
Where's this water coming from?

The better to cool you off with!
I love Ryan's expression in this one!

Playing in the water

Here is a real live terp.

Lucas stops for a snack & checks out the huge terp.

Checking out the gorillas-what a look of awe.

The big gorilla

Stopping under the spray mist to get cool again!

Last stop of the day, the elephant.
He was staying cool playing with his ball in the water.

It was so cool to see the zoo animals through Lucas' eyes.
He was great to see him point and try to interact with them.
We can't wait to take him back and see more animals next time!
